Opiates Anonymous enjoys a relationship with rehabs, detoxes, outpatient facilities, correctional facilities, clergy, educators and other professionals. Opiates Anonymous is not affiliated with any of these facilities or professionals.
Our Sixth Tradition states:
“An Opiates Anonymous group ought never endorse, finance, or lend the Opiates Anonymous name to any related facility or outside enterprise , lest problems of money, property and prestige divert us from our primary purpose.” Our relationship with such professional services is based on cooperation rather than affiliation.
Opiates Anonymous expresses no opinion on medical issues. Our Tenth Tradition states, “Opiates Anonymous has no opinion on outside issues; hence the Opiates Anonymous name ought never be drawn into public controversy.” Our primary purpose, as expressed in our Fifth Tradition states: ” Each group has but one primary purpose – to carry its message to the addict who still suffers.” A big part of carrying the message to the addict who still suffers involves our members going to these facilities and having our members share their experience with the twelve step program of Opiates Anonymous.
